宮古島出身／在住のメンバーが集まって結成、メンバーそれぞれの音楽体験を生かし、ジャズやファンク、レゲエ、ラテン音楽、宮古民謡などが混じり合った音楽を演奏する。離島ならではの独特な響きを持つ、インスト・バンド。

結成３年目だが、４枚目のアルバム"VIGOR"を２０１５年に発表。

２０１１年、１st Album "Naak-Nee" を久保田麻琴プロデュースで発表。

２０１３年には、２nd Album "Bang-A-Muli"を、

２０１４年には、３rd Album "Vudu-Eee"をそれぞれリリース。

Black Wax, formed in 2011 by 4 young musicians (two men and two women), is based in Miyako-jima, a small island 250km to the south of the main island of Okinawa. The band plays jazz, funk, reggae, rockabilly and latin music with unique Okinawan overtones. They released their 4th album "VIGOR" in 2015.
